Moussokoro Kané
Moussokoro Kané (she/her/hers) is a Movement Led Advisor at Global Fund for Women, providing strategic guidance for Global Fund for Women’s support of the Africa-Wide Climate Justice Movement.
Ms. Kané is a development expert with two decades of leadership in international development projects across Africa. Her extensive experience spans working with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mali and the USAID West Africa Missions, as well as roles at various international non-governmental organizations and United Nations agencies, where she focused on improving women’s role in crisis and conflict prevention and management, governance, countering violent extremism, and their economic empowerment. Her approach emphasizes fostering community action, as seen in her collaboration with key community figures, community-based organizations and civil society groups. She has significant experience in political advisory roles and policy leadership, including as Peace and Development Advisor to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Niger and Chad where she helped mobilized UN peacebuilding funds to address peacebuilding challenges and build national capacity for conflict prevention.
Ms. Kané has a strong record of adaptability and thriving in challenging settings, having led local and regional teams and managed conflict programs in fragile, post-conflict states in West and Central Africa. Her various roles within USAID and UNDP have culminated in her roles as Director for Coordination and Partnership and Deputy Chief of Party for Programs for USAID Mali’s flagship program: Mali Peacebuilding, Stabilization and Reconciliation. (2018-2023).
Recognized for her exceptional performance, Ms. Kané has received numerous awards, including USAID's Superior Performance Award. She is a native Bambara speaker and is fluent in French and English.
