Katie Houck

Senior Director of Individual Philanthropy

Katie has over ten years of experience building fundraising teams, leading philanthropic engagement and strategy and increasing revenue for organizations focused on protecting human rights. Previously, Katie served as the New Business Director at Malala Fund and exponentially expanded new donor revenue from individuals, corporations and foundations to help advance girls' education and fight for every girl's right to learn. During her tenure, she built the new donor fundraising team and strategy from the ground up. Earlier in her career, Katie also led the major gifts team at the Washington Office on Latin America, maximizing partnerships and impact to help protect human rights and social justice in the Americas. She is passionate about building authentic, impactful relationships with donors, making philanthropy a space where everyone is welcome and supporting locally-led movements and activists focused on equity and justice.

Katie received her BA in Communication Studies and English from Southern Methodist University and her MA in Social Business and Entrepreneurship at the London School of Economics and Political Science. In her free time, she enjoys reading, sculpting, checking out the theater scene in DC and spending quality time with her son Jesse.
