Annual Report 2024
Growing Together Towards Gender Justice
Last year, despite unprecedented challenges—climate disasters, war, authoritarian opposition, and attacks on reproductive rights—global gender justice movements pressed forward. Around the world, our partners have improved the lives of women, girls, and all historically marginalized communities while relentlessly pushing for progress.
We believe movements succeed when they have the resources and freedom to lead. That’s why we provide flexible, trust-based grants to support those on the frontlines of change. These grants allow activists and organizations to act quickly, creatively, and effectively in tackling inequality and injustice. By shifting resources and power to those on the frontlines, we saw how a single seed of support can blossom into lasting change:
In West and Central Africa, feminist leaders united to expand abortion rights
In Guatemala, Indigenous women spearheaded a pro-democracy movement
In India, domestic workers secured hard-fought protections and better pay

GETTING RESOURCES WHERE THEY ARE NEEDED THE MOST:
46% of our grantee partners were small organizations with less than $50k in annual budget
81% were located in countries where civic space is closed, repressed, or obstructed by governments
9% were first-time grantees of Global Fund for Women
19% were unregistered groups (not formally registered as nonprofits due to their grassroots nature or for safety reasons)
Ensuring feminist movements are well-resourced and supported requires the collaboration of our global community, and we could not do this work without the steadfast support of our donors. Thank you for joining us on this journey as we grow together.
